What pieces are included in Poynters’ aluminium lounge furniture range?

Poynters’ aluminium lounge range includes sofas and sectionals, comfortable lounge and club chairs, plus matching coffee and side tables. Many collections offer modular pieces so you can create L-shaped or U-shaped configurations to suit your space. You’ll also find options such as swivel lounge chairs and recliners. Every piece features rust-proof aluminium construction, ideal for long-term outdoor use.

How do aluminium lounge chairs handle New Zealand’s coastal conditions and salt air?

Aluminium lounge furniture is an excellent choice for coastal areas. Poynters’ aluminium frames are powder-coated, which helps protect against corrosion from salt air and moisture. They won’t rust, even with regular sea breezes. An occasional rinse with fresh water to remove salt is recommended. Cushions use outdoor fabrics and quick-dry foam that resist mildew, making aluminium lounges very suited to beachside homes.

Are the cushions on aluminium lounge furniture water-resistant?

Yes. Cushions supplied with Poynters’ aluminium lounge settings are designed for outdoor use. They generally feature water-resistant, solution-dyed outdoor fabrics (such as Sunbrella) and quick-dry foam inners. Water tends to run off or dry quickly rather than soaking in, and the materials resist UV fading and mould growth. It’s still best to let them dry thoroughly after heavy rain and store or cover them during prolonged wet spells.

Can I leave aluminium lounge furniture out in the open, or should it be under cover?

Aluminium lounge furniture is built to stay outdoors, even in exposed positions. The frames won’t rust and the finishes are hard-wearing. Placing furniture under cover, or using protective covers when not in use, will reduce cleaning and extend the life of cushions and finishes. If your deck or pool area is fully open, that’s fine – regular cleaning and basic care will keep the furniture looking good.

Is aluminium lounge furniture comfortable for long periods of sitting?

Yes. Poynters’ aluminium lounge furniture is designed with comfort in mind. Generously padded seat and back cushions provide support similar to indoor sofas, and seating angles are carefully considered for relaxed lounging. Some designs also feature sling bases, recline functions or swivel actions. The combination of supportive frames and quality cushioning means you can sit, read or chat for extended periods without feeling uncomfortable.

Do the aluminium lounge pieces coordinate with other outdoor furniture, such as dining sets or umbrellas?

They do. Poynters offers aluminium lounge ranges that coordinate with matching dining and bar settings, often sharing the same frame colours and design language. Common finishes like charcoal, white and taupe make it easy to pair lounges with aluminium dining tables, umbrellas or even teak and wicker pieces. Repeating aluminium elements, such as side tables or planters, helps create a cohesive, well-resolved outdoor space.
