What styles of outdoor dining tables does Poynters offer?

Poynters offers a wide range of outdoor dining tables to suit different tastes and group sizes. You’ll find cosy two-seater bistro tables, classic four, six, and eight person family tables and large extension tables for bigger gatherings. Styles range from sleek, modern designs with clean lines to rustic wooden farmhouse looks. We stock both round and rectangular tables, all crafted to balance practicality with strong visual appeal in your outdoor space.

Which materials are used in Poynters’ outdoor dining tables?

Our outdoor dining tables are made from high-quality, weather-resistant materials. Popular options include rich teak timber (naturally oil-rich and durable outdoors), powder-coated aluminium (lightweight and rust-resistant), and high-pressure laminate or ceramic tops for a contemporary, hard-wearing finish. Some designs also incorporate synthetic wicker. Every material is chosen to perform in New Zealand conditions, so whether you prefer the warmth of wood or a modern aluminium and glass look, your table is built to last.

Can these outdoor tables stay outside year-round in New Zealand?

Yes. Poynters’ outdoor tables are designed to live outside through the seasons. Solid teak and hardwood tables handle sun and rain well; the timber will gently weather but stay strong. Aluminium frames are rust-free, making them ideal for damp or coastal conditions. Many tops use tempered glass, ceramic or high-pressure laminate that cope with moisture and UV. Using a cover in extreme weather and brushing off debris helps keep your table looking its best with minimal effort.

How do I choose the right size outdoor dining table for my space?

Start by measuring your deck or patio and thinking about how many people you usually host. As a guide, allow at least 90 cm around the table for chairs and movement. A 150 cm table suits four people comfortably, while 220 cm and above can seat six to eight. In compact areas, round or square tables often work better. Poynters also offers extension tables that stay compact day-to-day and expand for guests. Our team can help you visualise layouts so the table fits well and allows easy flow.

Do Poynters’ dining tables require assembly, and is it difficult?

Most Poynters outdoor dining tables are simple to assemble if assembly is needed. Smaller tables sometimes arrive in one piece, while larger designs may have detachable legs or extension components. Assembly usually means bolting legs to the tabletop or connecting sections, with hardware and clear instructions supplied. With basic tools (most often included) and perhaps an extra pair of hands for lifting, you can set up your table quickly. Our customer service team is available if you need guidance. For Auckland customers we offer a white glove service where we assemble and place furniture for you and remove all rubbish.

What maintenance does an outdoor dining table need to keep it looking good?

Maintenance is straightforward. Wipe the table regularly with a damp cloth and mild soap to remove dust, pollen and spills. For teak or other timber tops, you can apply teak protector or oil annually if you wish to keep the original colour; otherwise, the wood will age to a silver-grey patina that many people like. Glass or ceramic tops respond well to standard glass cleaner. Using placemats or trivets under hot dishes protects the surface. If you can, cover the table during long periods of non-use, such as winter, to minimise cleaning and keep it looking fresh for years.
