What size outdoor coffee table should I get for my seating area?

Are outdoor coffee tables from Poynters heavy enough to be stable outdoors?

Yes. Our outdoor coffee tables are designed to be stable and practical. Many feature solid teak, metal frames or heavier tops such as tempered glass, ceramic or concrete composite to keep them grounded. Even lighter aluminium tables use broad legs or shelves for stability. In normal conditions they won’t wobble or slide, and are built to hold trays, décor and everyday use with ease.

What materials do Poynters’ outdoor coffee tables come in, and how do I maintain them?

Poynters’ coffee tables use durable materials such as teak, powder-coated aluminium, stainless steel, synthetic wicker and tops in ceramic, HPL, glass or concrete composite. Maintenance is simple: wash teak with mild soapy water (oil if you want to keep the golden colour), wipe metal or wicker with a damp cloth, and clean glass or ceramic with standard cleaners. Promptly wiping spills keeps everything looking fresh.

Can I use an outdoor coffee table as a bench for extra seating?

Some solid coffee tables, especially full-teak or sturdy metal designs, can cope with occasional sitting. However, coffee tables are generally lower than standard seating, so they’re not as ergonomic, and glass-top or very light designs shouldn’t be used as benches. If you regularly need extra seating, Poynters’ benches, ottomans or modular pieces are a better choice, with coffee tables kept mainly for serving.

Will an outdoor coffee table stand up to heat – can I place hot drinks or a firepot on it?

Our outdoor coffee tables are designed to cope with normal heat from coffee mugs, teapots and serving dishes. Materials such as teak, ceramic, glass and HPL handle everyday hot items well. For very hot cookware or firepots, we recommend using a trivet and choosing a non-flammable top such as metal, tile or stone. With basic care, your table will stay safe and looking good.
